Sichuan Taikang Hospitals Department of Rehabilitation Medicine inaugurates the FAC Functional Assessment Center, gathering international experts to jointly map out the blueprint for the future

On December 2, 2025, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Sichuan Taikang Hospital held the unveiling ceremony for the FAC (Functional Assessment Center). The event brought together rehabilitation experts from Singapore and Australia to discuss and exchange ideas on the construction plan, international cooperation, and disciplinary development of the functional assessment center.

The Functional Assessment Center (FAC) is a more systematic and standardized work system for body function based on the principles that "rehabilitation begins with assessment and ends with assessment" and "outcome evaluation". It achieves full-cycle management from initial diagnosis to the end of treatment and return to home and society through a standardized assessment process, quantitative functional indicators, and dynamic tracking of rehabilitation outcomes.

At the symposium, Zhao Yongheng, Executive President of Sichuan Taikang Hospital, and Zhou Yunling, Medical Director, introduced the overall development and business layout of the group and the hospital, respectively. Wei Liang, Director of the Scientific Research and Teaching Department, delivered a special report on the progress of the hospital's scientific research work.

Professor Celia Tan from SingHealth shared Singapore's experience in building functional assessment centers and talent cultivation. Professor Kevin Netto from Curtin University, Australia, analyzed the frontiers of international rehabilitation education and research. Mr. Jia Shuli, Chairman of Sport & Medical, offered professional suggestions from the perspective of industrial synergy. After the event, the guests jointly unveiled the "FAC Functional Assessment Center of Sichuan Taikang Hospital".

Sun Zengchun, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, elaborated on the current development of the department and the needs for the construction of the functional assessment center. Gu Yuexi, the chief therapist, reported on the preparatory work for the FAC. The two sides held detailed discussions on discipline construction, including rehabilitation technology introduction, talent cultivation, and research collaboration, and reached multiple consensuses on future cooperation directions.

 At the end of the meeting, Executive President Zhao Yongheng, Director Zhou Yunling, and Director Wei Liang delivered concluding remarks, emphasizing that this symposium will be an opportunity to continuously deepen cooperation with internationally advanced institutions, advance the construction of the FAC Functional Assessment Center at Sichuan Taikang Hospital to a higher level, and provide patients with more precise and high-quality rehabilitation assessment services.
